When Tom Shircliff, Co-Founder of Intelligent Buildings realized it was time to start sharing some of the lessons he’s learned over his career as both an entrepreneur and working in venture capital and private equity he turned to AdvisoryCloud.

“I joined Advisory Cloud because I thought with that variety of experience that I had, I had a lot of lessons learned and a lot of advice that I could offer, you know, avoid the same mistakes, maybe what's worked and what hadn't worked. And I also really came to appreciate the role of advisors both in getting advice and giving advice. I think it's really underutilized.” said Tom.

After being on the platform for just a few days he’d already joined several advisory boards for exciting companies at various stages of growth. It was his experience at Intelligent Buildings that allowed him to share some unique insights with Empower Living - a company that manages senior living communities across the country.

During Empower Living’s Q3 Advisory Board Meeting, Tom’s deep knowledge of smart building technology led to deep conversations around how these tools could be used in a senior living environment to increase the speed at which a care provider can respond to a fall, or even ensure that someone has taken their pills.

The conversations with Empower Living have been great, both electronically and in the quarterly meetings, besides giving some general business advice I was able to make some connections with them from service providers that can help them with their technology stack.

When asked about his experience using the platform Tom Said, “I used the platform to really match my experience and skill sets with companies that I knew I could help.  The connections were made very fast. The platform and the onboarding team did most of the work, so the boards were presented to me, I could give them a quick read and then decide very quickly where I could add value and where I couldn't.”
