At the time of the transition, the company's bank was prepared to close the business. Over the ensuing years, we worked closely together with key customers, a new bank, and community financing institutions to generate the necessary liquidity to continue funding and growing the operations.
Ultimately, we were successful in building a new leadership team, coaching up the ownership group, establishing relevant KPIs, and providing the necessary financial and strategic planning, resulting in a significant improvement to the company’s profitability. Despite the challenges of COVID, we were able to successfully sell the business to a private equity group for an amount that the family members could never have imagined possible when they assumed control of the financially challenged business.
