I specialize in aiding both private and public organizations through Organizational Development, Organization Design, Change Management, Cultural Change, Conflict Resolution, Team Building, Leadership and Executive Development, and systems reviews. I recently authored a book entitled "OD for the Accidental Practitioner," published by Kohler Books, wherein I highlight these areas and provide numerous case studies.
My primary objective as an advisor is to help the Board of Directors (BOD) avoid simple cause and effect decision making through strategic direction. Instead, I advocate for a more strategic or preventative type of decision making. In addition, I seek to challenge the BOD's thinking and provoke additional thoughts and alternative points of view.
Unfortunately, too many organizational decisions have resulted in significant unintended consequences that have injured the institution. I believe that my background in systems can help organizations bypass most of these incidents. Plus, I can promote crucial relationship building that some organizations seem to lack, and I can resolve internal conflicts that harm the organization.
Disruptions are indeed emerging. We now find employees who work remotely, hybrid workers, and those who must be at the job site all within the same company. This mix is causing concerns among the workforce, potentially leading to legal and union challenges. Additionally, a lack of employees in some industries is causing significant quality and customer service concerns. Some organizations, including the military, have lowered their service requirements, resulting in high turnover rate, which in turn produces excessive costs for recruitment, onboarding, training, and such. This process is replicated incessantly. Consequently, the stress level on good workers has increased and they are beginning to question their worth.
I have been involved in several impactful projects and decisions. For example, I have contributed to changing the cultures of entire Federal Agencies and establishing a law enforcement division within an organization. I have also worked with two brothers, who were owners of a business, but were damaging their organization due to their conflicts. Additionally, I made the decision not to continue with a project after initial diagnostic work revealed numerous unethical and illegal activities. Similarly, I chose not to provide a requested service and turned down a significant contract after determining it would not benefit the organization. It would have been a waste of resources and would not have affected any positive change within the organization.
In conclusion, Larry Kokkelenberg, with his extensive and accomplished skillset in Organization Development, Organization Design, Change Management, Cultural Change, Conflict Resolution, Team Building, Leadership and Executive Development, and systems reviews, is a quintessential resource for any private or public organization in need of such expertise.
